Parkland shooting commission recommends arming teachers

Fox NewsThe panel investigating the Florida high school massacre recommended Wednesday that teachers who volunteer and undergo extensive background checks and training be allowed to carry concealed guns on campus to stop future shootings.

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission voted 13-1 to recommend the Legislature allow the arming of teachers, saying it's not enough to have one or two police officers or armed guards on campus. Florida law adopted after the Feb. 14 shooting that left 17 dead allows districts to arm non-teaching staff members such as principals, librarians and custodians — 13 of the 67 districts do, mostly in rural parts of the state.

The media will ignore this, because it doesn't follow their gun control narrative.

What an idiot

WSB-TVDalton police say Jesse Randal Davidson, 53, a social studies teacher and a play-by-play football announcer at the school, fired the shot. During his planning period around 11 a.m., police said Davidson locked himself in the classroom.

“When the principal put a key in the door to try to unlock the classroom, Mr. Davidson apparently fired a shot from a handgun to an exterior window of the classroom. It doesn't appear it was aimed at anybody,” Bruce Frazier, with the Dalton Police Department, said.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was deliberate, done to scuttle the armed teachers argument. Since he wasn't shooting AT anyone, I bet he plea-bargains to a misdemeanor and serves most of the time doing community service lecturing about not bringing guns to school. It could be a good career move for him after a few years. Hat tip to PawPaw.
